Hidden Netflix gems: Battle Royale

Battle Royale is the movie that has inspired a genre. You know the games like Fortnite, PBUG, etc. Well, this is the Japanese film that inspired the whole genre.

Set in Japan, the film follows of group of teenagers whom are taken to an island whom are taken to an island after the government passes a law intended to control unruly youth. They have three days to fight to the death.

And what follows are some of the most disturbing moments in cinematic history.

This movie is not for the faint of heart. It features some of the most graphic violence imaginable. and for this reason, it was pretty controversial, however this film could be looked at another way.

A commentary on the hyper competitiveness in today’s world. In this film, nothing but survival, friends are pitted against each other, personalities change. Survival of the fittest.

This film may not be for everyone but as movie that shocks and disturbs you, it works.
